How Hyperliquid HYPE buybacks and supply removal work

Understand the Assistance Fund, fee inflow, executed HYPE buybacks and the difference between supply removal and circulating supply.

Follow the money, then the tokens

HYPEBURN separates three observations: USDC entering the Assistance Fund, USDC available in its reserve, and HYPE acquired through executed buybacks. These are related, but they are different measurements. Fee inflow is not the same as the amount spent on HYPE during that interval.

The reserve can build before orders execute. A resting order is an intention to buy; a fill records an execution. Compare completed fills over the same time window before drawing conclusions about buyback activity.

What the supply-removed number measures

Our headline uses the observed HYPE balance of the Assistance Fund as the supply-removal measure. It is not a direct measurement of circulating supply, and the label does not mean the tokens have been sent to a conventional burn address. Read the protocol documentation alongside the observed balance.

A price increase can raise the dollar value of a token balance without increasing the token count. Compare HYPE amounts separately from dollar values. Token unlocks, issuance and other supply changes also matter when evaluating the wider supply picture.

Read a chart without mixing windows

Choose a common interval, check the UTC timestamp, and compare fee inflow, executed buybacks and the change in HYPE holdings. Observed USDC inflows can include reserve yield, so they should not automatically be described as trading-fee revenue.

An interrupted data source or an incomplete history can affect a rolling total. A delayed snapshot is useful context, but it is not evidence of current execution. The dashboard shows freshness and availability so those limitations remain visible.
